Hmmmmm.... I'm probably driving, and the current plan is be in Vegas Thursday night and going to Lake Arrowhead in time for cocktails. But if a meet-up is happening, my plans can flex.

You could sleep on the floor of my Pontiac Sunfire, but I don't think that helps you. I do not have a wife, but you could ask my ex.

I helped design the logo for the FunModCom (NOT the MaxFunCom), not the cute/sad mascot but the traffic light motif and 'non-consecutive days' part (which took about 30 seconds of PhotoSlop with intentionally tacky fonts) and I am pissed that not only will I not be able to attend either event, I may not even be ambulatory by then (long story, CHF). But if that is the case, I will make a webcam video on "How to Have Maximum Fun in a Hospital Bed" that I would like to be snuck onto the screen behind Hodgman during his keynote address.
Or I may organize a symposium on grouchiness and old-fartism later in the year under the title COMmudgeoun. Let me get back to you after I regain consciousness.

And come to think of it, if I do die before the MaxFunCom, the LAST thing I want is a moment of silence. I want all the MeFites (and Hodgman, who has given me ONE personal @reply on Twitter) to raise glasses of some beverage containing HFCS and toast me with the words "He Did End Well!!"
If my past record for ghoulish foreshadowing is any indication, I'll probably die in my sleep tonight and these two comments will be recorded as my 'last words'. Yikes.

Okay, so that's four of us, plus Merlin Mann and John Hodgman. Yeah, that should make for a nice meetup.

here's what i want to know: the date of the top post on the opening page is Thursday, August 20, 2009. the dates for maxfuncon are june 12-14, 2009. neither of these dates, of course, have occurred yet. and somehow this all-around futuristic event is sold out????????? wtf, people? HOW DOES THAT WORK?

Yeah, that August 20th was supposed to say 2008. It was a blog entry. Jesse must have had 2009 on his mind when writing that.
As far as an event in the future being already sold out? Yeahhhh!!! WEIRD!!!!!!!! It's almost like they sold the tickets in advance or something. Surely others will follow this example.

And yeah, we're sold out, but the waiting list is open, and so far all the folks on the waiting list have gotten in. That may be done, I dunno if anyone will still cancel, but get on the waitlist if you want to come.

Also: I would probably attend a meetup, depending on how much shit I have to do right beforehand. My Jordan, Jesse Go co-host Jordan has a show at the UCB on the 11th, and there are some folks on my forum planning a meetup around that.

I'm flying into ONT on Tuesday so that I can spend a few days wandering around before the conference. Hopefully, a few LA MeFites will come out of the woodwork Wednesday night for a few drinks somewhere. Maybe I'll try this again when we get closer to the date.

I've been reading the forum and I really am tempted to change my schedule to do this.

I was just alerted to this thread by another Mefite and would be happy to attend said meetup... I just have to remember to put it into my calendar. I have no wife so I cannot offer her for your bedding needs. I do have a dog, but she is an independent spirit and chooses her own mates... nothing personal, but judging from her dating history I don't think you're her type.
I have been so busy focusing on my new job that I didn't even know about this MaxFunThingie. Huh. It sounds fun (MAX fun, even!), so I'm bummed I didn't know about it. Doh! :(
