slightly longer notice Melbourne meetup?
not only did I miss the short-notice meetup last friday, but we have new folks in town who also didn't make it along.
so who's up for a few pleasant ales (or your other drinks of choice) in the next couple of weeks?
I'll suggest workshop on friday the 22nd - not because I'm particularly wedded to that plan, but the haggling has to start somewhere and the venue seems to have worked well for our last couple of meetups.
anyone?

Nah, I'll be there with knobs on. Can we try and scam some lucre out of Howie and pretend it's a 10th thing- and go down the pinnies instead?

I'll have you know, Ubu, that I was a proud member of this nation of freeloaders long before Mr Krudd came along.

Down near the bus depot on Nicholson Nth Fitzroy is the last bastion of the noble machine- and I believe they have the odd 40c job (I was last there in '96 so don't rush down). There was a place in Huntingdale- but sadly it recently burnt down.

Is there a strict dress code here? Do I need to do anything special? I mean, I won't be wearing tennis shoes, but I wasn't planning on dressing up either.

not likely to be a problem. melb doesn't have sydney's shitty dresscode attitudes, probably because everybody dresses so well here.

not in the slightest. I'm in jeans, some ratty old trainers, and a t-shirt.

as an aside, there was surprisingly little talk about the site, compared with other meetups i've been to. at least, as far as i noticed.

russm: here was that site i was talking about - tried to fpp it but we collectively killed their server so it was deleted, not once, but twice! shame, really: much promise for fun & seriousness in equal measure.
and yeh, the noise was probably a factor in less site-talk. if you have a bunch of ppl around a table in a quiet venue, in order to find common conversational ground it often turns to "so, did everybody see when username flamed out?".
when you can only hear the person next to you, and only if they are speaking directly to you, it's probably more like regular conversation.

a temporary ban is like telling a person they shouldn't drink so much. it only makes them resentful.
