And I was just about to download SOS November 12, 2009 11:13 AM   Subscribe

Maybe there's a memo I missed, but what happened to the mefi music download links? I just get the flash player now.

I still see it underneath the little disk icon. Maybe you have some ad/image blocker settings turned up a little too high?
posted by jessamyn (staff) at 11:14 AM on November 12, 2009

Note that the link only appears on individual track pages, not on the front page of Music.
posted by cortex (staff) at 11:15 AM on November 12, 2009

You should see the download link to the right of the Flash player.

So this is where we talk about waffles, right? Allons, les gauffres!
posted by ooga_booga at 11:26 AM on November 12, 2009

They also don't show up if you're not logged in. Or at least they didn't the last time I checked.
posted by ODiV at 11:26 AM on November 12, 2009

Ah yes, I was thrown by the lack of them on the main page. Is that to encourage clickthroughs?
posted by jaduncan at 11:35 AM on November 12, 2009

Oh, and thanks for the quick response jessamyn and cortex. You are both superheroes/heroines, obviously.
posted by jaduncan at 11:37 AM on November 12, 2009

Nah, it's not about clickthroughs. It's the same reason we don't have "more inside" text on the front page. We want the front pages fairly clean.

No love for pb? He's the superheroiest one of all, in my opinion.

pb once used his cop powers to check me out of prison for two days so that we could solve a crime together.

He drives a bad ass car.

pb certainly wins on the bilabial plosive front.

Which sounds like a meteorological phenomenon I can't even begin to imagine.

Hey pb, can we get a feature where we get all MeFi related memos via memail? Aside from memomemail sounding great, it seems a lot of people keep missing memos, maybe this would help.

pb once had a thought that was unperfect, but he reversed the wave-collapse event and made it unthought.

I heard that pb programs the entire site in ternary coded instructions, which he then runs through a ternary-instruction-to-Brainfuck converter. He takes the output and manually interprets to to manipulate a pointer, treating the pagefiles on the server as an infinite tape. All while continuing his ongoing proof that P=NP.

After seeing immediate comments from jessamyn, cortex, and pb, I was kind of hoping mathowie would weigh in.

pb no longer sees the code. He just sees self-linker, Pepsi Blue, quonsar...

Choose Mefi. Choose the blue. Choose the green. Choose meetups. Choose a fucking big thread, choose SLYTs, lolcats, Wikipedia gossip and newsfilter. Choose mathowie, cortex, and jessamyn. Choose vacapinta. Choose pb. Choose your contacts. Choose favourites and flagging. Choose a spectacular post by Kattullus with a range of fucking links. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing YouTube videos, stuffing fucking bacon into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, posting your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up members you spawned to replace yourself.

Choose your future.

Choose Mefi.
