There are Pictures of Monkeys! April 15, 2010 10:38 AM   Subscribe

It has been some time since Providence was the place to meet up. I say we change that.

I propose Saturday, 24 April, at the Red Fez (49 Peck Street). I also propose the second floor. Further, I propose an early start so we can grab the big table -- I could be there by 5, but we'd need to show up in force by 5:30 or so to hold it. Finally, I propose riotous merriment!

Agree to my scheme, or make a counter offer!

I wish I was in Providence, if only because then I could go see Steve Unruh's band Resistor play at AS220 on the 14th of May, which I can't, because I'm not.

I would like to come, but I will likely be beat from a redeye flight. However! If you postpone the meetup by one (1) week, I will be taking a class at The Steel Yard and could join up after it's finished.

Hmmm. A week later would be May Day....

I would seriously consider going the following week. As much as I love a good meetup, there's no way I'm missing the sheep-shearing festival going on in my town that day.

Definitely maybe!!!

May 1 isn't doable for me - I'm performing at a benefit concert for Chilean earthquake survivors that night. (7pm RISD auditorium) Or at least I think I am. Last I heard. (Musicians aren't always so good at planning.)

Now that I'm finally done traveling, I'm basically around and down to meetup anytime.
(Which is to say, I'm mostly just commenting for recent activity :)

The 24th is my monthly Saturday on the reference desk. (Also IFFB)

I propose you all sit quietly with your hands folded until I return to New England in mid-May, at which point, merriment may commence.

May Day at the Cuban Revolution? Ossum.

Hmmm. I would rather do the Fez than Cuban Revolution. May Day at the Fez?

Only if we get to wear actual fezzes. I once almost subbed "Where can I get a fez for a tame monkey? How big does the monkey have to be before there is a reliable supply of fezzes?" to AskMeFi, but I decided to sober up before hitting the post button. I'm glad I thought better of it, as the monkey looks better in a little cowboy hat.

If we go to Cuban Revolution on May Day we would have to dress like Che or Fidel. That razor cuts both ways, man.

I would be down with this were I not tearing my kitchen apart next weekend. Sorry, folks.

I will be down for meeting up at some point. And any of these proposed dates/venues are fine by me.

OK, it looks like the 1st is better for the majority -- we have calls for the Fez and Cuban Revolution. Anyone else have preferences?

Drat. Okay, so, it turns out I won't be around on the 1st.

Turns out I will be around on the 1st. Ahhh, musicians. You and your cunning "planning" skills. Either Cuban or the Fez is fine with me. I prefer Cuban because I'm LAZY, but hell, I can walk across town if need be.

Never been to either, so I vote for the one with the larger beer selection (assuming they're roughly equidistant to the train station).

Fez has some pretty awesome Swedish hard cider, and that's as close to beer as I ever get. And yes, they're roughly equidistant from the train.

Well, OK. Since I have heard no great cries otherwise, I say the 1st at The Red Fez. I'll get there at 5pm to grab the big table on the 2nd floor.

I put it on the meetup calendar. See you then!

Alas, I don't think I'll make it. But if you are still there a bit later, I'll try to be in touch.
