Lisboa Meetup. Or not.

Lisboa Meet-Up? Are there any extant Portuguese MeFites? Perhaps a seance to raise Migs?

I'll be in Lisbon between June 20th and 25th and would love to attend a meet-up on the OTHER side of the Atlantic. If there's anyone to meet that is. Or I'll just sit and eat delicious Portuguese food all on my own, if it comes to that.

Loved the city so much I stole its name (for myself and the band) but sadly will not be able to join you all unless I win the lottery tomorrow. Have two for me.

I'll be there next weekend June 12-13. You know, the weekend when the ENTIRE CITY throws a huge street party!

Actually, this year the festival runs into mid-July. I am probably going for the same reason you are: This is an awesome time of year to go to Lisbon.

And yes, it's an awesome time of year to go to Lisbon. We went around the same time last year and it was much with the awesome.

Actually, THIS is the reason I am going. That is me on the left. Notice my look of concentration. I think thats when I ate 12 in one sitting. My father-in-law (next to me) gave me a good run but I think he lost steam after his 10th.

Yeah, 'moonMan is already pumped about the sardines. (I prefer the Portuguese steak, but they are mighty fine sardines and I'm kind of a natural carnivore.) We went to a Portuguese "Fest" here in PVD this weekend and it was damn hard to get excited about the food when we know those sardines are just two weeks away.

I can debone that sardine in a few seconds flat with knife and fork. Its much more efficient for me. My father-in-law (the guy next to me) has the same quirk too. Also, if the fish's intestines are really full I can quickly cut them out and hand them to my mother-in-law who regards the fish guts as a delicacy.

I'll be in Portugal those dates but Lisbon only on the 25th, would have to check whether my SO would be profoundly uncomfortable with meeting people I only know off the internet before committing, and it would be too rude to slack her off for the night. So count me as possible but not likely.

vacapinta, I'm glad you are stuffing on the sardines, leaving me all the pasteis de belem. Are you still up for a Paris meet-up sometime? (That was you, right?) I am moving to the big city so this summer I should be much freer to put something together.

(Sorry, somehow missed the Paris part when I read your post)

Me and Mrs. V are probably staying in Paris for a week or so in an apartment. Also, probably in the Fall but haven't fixed the dates yet. I'll call for a Paris meetup as soon as we do!
