metafilter just got slower then it was before. I'm not sure if this issue has been addressed elsewhere, but since Monday or even a little earlier MetaFilter has been very very slow. I was wondering if it was relocated to new space or if this is just a hop issue.

There's some kind of bogging down that's treating the site poorly.

I'm guessing it's the wrongwaygoback anniversary blow-out, myself. <grin&;gt;

If Matt's like every other Pyra employee, he's playing with wireless at the conference thingy that's going on, and has no time to make sure the server's not catching fire or anything, so we'll probably just have to grin and bear it 'til he gets some time on his hands. Keep trying, eventually you may be one of the luck 300 or so that can monopolize the server's processing time. :-)

I think I need to patch or upgrade SQL server, it's going nuts on me for no reason.

Hey, if you figure out what's going on with SQL Server, can you post a little update somewhere? I've never heard of it 'sploding randomly like this, and it'd be interesting to know what's causing it, so I can side-step that kind of stuff myself. :-)

hmm... it seems to be ok now, and I've done basically nothing but a few reboots in the last couple days.

Odd.
