Is it just me or are most of the entries on the the Mefi Music Chart's "Most Favorited Tracks (in the past 7 days)" from 2009?

Its not just you, but I think they are in fact the most favorited tracks of the last seven days, as people have in the last seven days favorited them more often than even newer tracks.

Which is to say that it is about time to force flapjax back into the mines

One favorite in the past week is enough to put a track on that chart at the moment, and Pronoiac is systematically listening to all of MeFi Music and sharing one track that he likes each day on Start to Finish, A Metafilter Music Podcast. He also favorites the tracks he shares. So it looks like he's up to 2009 now? :)

Okay, I see. It looks like one user recently favorited a bunch of stuff from 2009.

If you take a look at the chart, it shows you how many favorites a particular track has received within the last seven days. Right now it only takes one or two favorites to get on that chart and those old tracks are being favorited. If you want, you can look at the list of favorites for any given post and verify that there have been new favorites.

Man, I've already got banjo-lung, jew's harp-muscle ache, frame-drum-induced nausea and a bad case of bongo-breath. I tells ya, I'm this close to checking myself into the nearest musician's hospital.

On a more serious note, however, regardless of blasdelb's kind suggestion that MeFiMu submissions from me would liven up the charts at MeFiMu, the fact is that most everything all of us post over there is, well, let's not say *ignored* by the Mefi user base, but, um... well... ah... hell. Ignored.

While certainly not wanting to wag my finger at anyone (my fingers are too weak from diddly-bow fatigue, anyway) I would say that, honestly, the only thing that really gets people (in real numbers) to take the plunge and click on a song over there is when someone posts something to MetaTalk like "HEY! Check out _______'s new tune at Mefi Music! It's the best thing since Radiohead!"

It'd be so cool if more people here visited the Music sub site more often and left a comment or two, though. Hope springs eternal!

Can I just say how much I love the Start to Finish podcast? It is simply awesome and MetaFilter is filled with so many fantastic musicians, omg. I love you people rocking my ears every day.

Oh! Yes, that's totally my fault, as beryllium noted above. My podcast runs in chronological order, and I'm currently covering songs from 2009. I used to use a playlist, but I thought that favorites were more visible to the artists. (And I thought I'd solidly break the playlist engine at some point.) I was retroactively adding songs, and I'm pretty much caught up now.

Indeed. I love lurking on MeFi Music but it still makes me nervous how visible even a very minor amount of interaction with that part of the site is. To be fair though, checking my own email makes me nervous.

You guys just need to post more songs that sound good when I play them with the speakers off at work.

Oh didn't know about the podcast. I noticed a few favorites, but I thought you were browsing randomly through the archives. Cool project!

contraption, what kind of music are you looking for?

Some 4'33" covers perhaps?

I thought of techno on headphones first, then, jokingly, nsfw songs. Then I checked to find that I have posted multiple songs that were both, which just gloriously ridiculous.
