Is there any way to customize the spell-check a little? July 16, 2002 11:44 PM   Subscribe

This is really more of a nit, but a nit is a little tiny bug, I guess .... Is there any way to customize the spell-check a little? I'm getting really tired of seeing Mafia every time I spellcheck MeFi.

The bug thread has disappeared for me, but the spell checker hangs in XP home, IE 6.0.

Should have said, works fine in Opera, 6.02.

Yay! I even got to learn two new words.
Malthusian, aphelion, mulligan, mapping, mashing, aphasia (now that IS odd, since aphasic.com is my url)

mlang = retard?

looks like somebody already did a bit of customization.

Iain Banks' Complicity has a character who delights with his interminable "Hey! Guess what the spellchecker says about ____?"

Good times. Good times.

For some reason, it didn't occur to me that Kafkaesque is a real word.

odiv = diva?

*scrolls down*

Odin... that's better, not like I couldn't see it coming. I'm just surprised it's on the bottom.

insomnyuk- ignominy, kinswoman, kinswomen, insomnia, Winston, kinsman, kinsmen, winsomely, insomniac, simony, Kingston, bison, linesman.

I shall henceforth refer to myself as 'winsome Winston, kinsman of Kingston'

crasspastor- crassest, crispest, cassias, castrator, crass, crosspatch, raspiest, castigator, croissant

That's too good...

I like "hubcap" or "hibachi"; I'm not too sure about either "hebe" or "hobo", though.

Apparently monju_bosatsu translates roughly as bloated monk. Hmmm... Not entirely inappropriate. It's either that or bobcat menu.
