Bug warning: MeFi Mail issues November 21, 2022 12:51 AM   Subscribe

Heads up: Sending MefiMail might silently break. When it doesn’t work, the message is not sent, and it doesn’t show up in your Sent Mail folder.

I first noticed this Wednesday, 2022-11-16. It’s persistently kept me from mailing JHarris; I’ve tried different browsers, with no luck. We verified that we weren’t blocking each other.

Okay, so the update on this is that it should be fixed now, but in case anyone does continue to experience this issue or related mefi mail issue, we can report here and it will be easier to keep track of. Thanks, Pronoiac!

Thanks Pronoiac! Had you and JHarris not reported it, I would not have thought to check if my MeMails were going out.

taz, I had this issue earlier today, when sending two successive MeMails. The time for the second MeMail was 2022-11-21, 0404 (UTC) (+/- a couple of minutes). Was the fix implemented after that time?

After that, tavegyl (if my timelord computing skills aren't amiss!)

Some years ago, a couple of times I tried sending a MeMail and nothing happened. I just brushed it off when it occurred, but I'm wondering if it might have been this same issue?

I'm still having an issue where my incoming memails are not being forwarded to my personal email. (Yes, I have toggled the switch!) It stopped working in October.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

This is probably why I never get any memails ;p

Just as a datapoint: I had this issue starting around Nov 8 or 9 and until at least Nov 15 or 16.
I'd click Send, the "your message has been sent" would pop up, but the message wouldn't show in Sent and the addressee would not receive it.
Just tried sending again now, and it seems to have worked this time. Thanks!

So.... if it does end up in Sent Mail does that mean it was Sent?

Perhaps I should add: the problem was one-way--the other user was able to message me, even though I could not message them.

zengargoyle, I suppose I'm testing that part out now...waiting to hear back from the [intended] recipient, unless the delay has put them off completely from the message chain :(

Yes, I too have not been receiving memails. That may not be a tech issue, I just thought I'd mention it.

I am happy to report that forwarding is now working for me! Thank you!
