Ack! The metafilter irc channel is down. How am I ever going to get my fix of mindless chat?

To be honest, I'm going crazy. Having switched to a mac, even with mcwetboy's and amberglow's suggestions (Fire, etc), I'm unable to log into the motherlode. So - get this - I actually bought a really basic PC, Pentium 4 and 512K - to continue this and other PC pleasures. But have I managed to connect? Oh no. And do I need to? Oh yes.

As Mihir/Riff says, we are hopelessly addicted. Best company in the world. Oh please help this poor servant of yours!

Behold, ye blessed Holloway! So I've installed the blessed Mirc over on the PC (forget the mac!) and what link should I choose? I find no turlyming so I optimistically go for a Random American (as one is wont to do) and type join #mefi. I end up alone. Then I go for the homegrown stuff, PT Link. Same shite.

I have a nice private chat room on my own blog, Pastilhas. All one has to do is click on "Sala de Urgências". It has a nifty mouse-over feature that tells you who's there. But that's in Portuguese...

Oh woe!

Miguel, connect to irc.undernet.org and then join #mefi. Joining undernet might take a few attempts.

Either that or download Mozilla for Mac and click on Riffola's link.

Just so people don't get the impression that there are no irc clients on mac other than mozilla, Ircle, and Snak are pretty good. :)

If you are wondering what happened to #mefi, irc.turlyming.com seems to be down. Drop by at the temporary location on the undernet (you can pick any undernet server, as long as it lets you on).
