MeFi Search appears to be out to lunch [More Inside]

Searching on "bong" does not turn up the thread from the other day (02/24/03), searching on "tapestries" does. "tapestries" apears in the FPP, "bong" is in the thread.
But it's not that simple, searching for "NHRA" (in the last year) returns only today's model rocketry thread with "NHRA" is in the FPP, and thread 18204. Interestingly "NHRA" is not mentioned in thread 18204. I'm clueless as to what is going on.

threads are no longer searched. this has been so for some time. i'm too lazy to look for the MetaTalk reference. but that's the answer to your problem, in a nutshell.

oh, there is a terminology problem, because i think the search drop-down uses the term "thread". actually, comments are no longer searched. only the text from the actual post.

The letters NHRA are in the 18204 thread -they're part of the url of the Pro Stock Bike link in the post itself.

But, I believe Matt left the option so search MeFi comments using Google, which i have found highly effective in the past.

If the search function wants, I can suggest some places for lunch.

The Everyman Bistro in Liverpool does a pretty good Potato and Cauliflower soup.
