Asheville NC meet-up November 10, 2003 7:58 PM Subscribe
While we're having MeFi meetup fever, anyone close to Asheville, NC (vaguely metropolitan mountain city about two hours from Charlotte)? If so, I'd be pleased as punch to host a gathering...
I'm 4 hours from you and would be happy to join. Walking on water not required.

I may make it, but you must first renounce Billy Graham and all his works.

(I lived in Brevard for four years when I was a kid, and that beautiful little corner of the world is a place I would love to visit again someday.)

I get to Greensboro about every six to eight weeks (Corp HQ) - is that close? Next time is December 8.

Just as an aside, I've been seeing ads for Asheville all over the TV lately. Something about "altitude affects attitude". Looks like a nice little town.
Of course, an "altitude" of 2140 feet above sea level equates to almost a half-mile deep in the ground up here, but y'all are welcome to dream. :P

It is indeed, and they've got a great old ballpark.

I was thinking sometime mid-Decemberish, and sure, we can book the Biltmore, provided anyone's willing to write a grant proposal for oh, say, about 2 mil?
Seriously, there's a plethora of entertainment opportunities and venues, including a rag-tag tour of our many brew-pubs and the oxygen bar. I'm open for anything, and if anyone's really interested, drop me a line or a squiggle at jay@birdonthemoon.com.

I am in Columbia, SC, but I love asheville, and would absolutely make it for a MefiMeet.
Quonsar, you can bring your sister, provided she has not exceeded the limit of 4 teeth and and 3 ways to conjugate "is".

I'm in A-T-L. If the date works, I might get convinced to come up. I do love me some Pisgah National Park.
