Login Problems December 11, 2003 11:56 AM   Subscribe

Can't log in via the blue using Firebird 0.7+.
I was able to log in, however, via Metatalk.

STBU

Did you try deleting all your metafilter cookies and trying again? The logins should work across all sites, so I don't know why the mefi one would not work and the metatalk one would.

STBU?

Deleted all my cookies, still no dice. I fill out the login/pass on the blue login page, but the "login" button does absolutely nothing. Grey login works just fine.

STBU?

weird. STBU is a joke term from help desks in the corporate word (sucks to be you), said when someone has an odd problem that can't be replicated and that no one else reports.

I just logged out and logged back in again via the main Metafilter page. I'm using Firebird 0.7 on Linux.

I'm using 0.7+, the latest build, on XP Pro.

So yeah, STBM

i have noted weird behavior on the part of firebird 0.70 occasionally links, buttons, link bar buttons etc all cease to have effect. closing the browser and reopening has been the only workaround i've found.

I thought it was shorthand for "shut the blue up", but I'm a stupid mother bluer.

I've found Firebird (any version) to suck at logging on with some sites (Mefi isn't one of them), while Mozilla handles it just fine. Just for a giggle I tried one of them with Opera and it didn't work there either.

Conclusion: wierd.

I get the same problems that quonsar mentioned. If I go to the 37 signals weblog, none of the links function. The only thing I can do is open them into new tabs. It's really annoying. Perhaps a CSS bug of some sort.

Switched back to 0.7, problem solved, so I guess there's a bug in the 0.7+ release.

I guess so. Firebird 0.7 on XP Pro here, no problems whatsoever.
