London meetup?

There WILL be a London Metafilter Meetup. Either on the 18th or the 25th of June. You Decide.

I might be able to make it the 25^th, but it's all rather tentative. But the 25^th already seems to be winning, so all is well.

Since I couldn't make the last one in Oxford, I may well try and make it. 25th would probably be better.

I'm pretty bummed that you and Chris can't make the 25th (My favorite for the simple reason that it's the day before my birthday). I was hoping for some late swing towards the 18th, or some POSTED COMMENTS either plumping for a different day or at least trying to fit everyone in. Nobody seems that bothered about the meetup as yet though. Lets hope for a surge of comments nearer the time.

2nd July is a good idea, a bit further into the future. I've put it as an option on the wiki.

Crudsticks, I can't make 2nd July either.

Is there any particular reason we're sticking to Fridays? I could do Saturday 26th, f'rinstance.

Thursdays are good for me, in the summer anyway -- I can do any Thurs from the 24th of June onwards. Weekend nights tend to be pretty difficult.

Thursday 1st July? Frunday 32nd Aprember?

My brain is envisaging an enormous table of all the dates between 18th June and 2nd July, and a whole big list of names. Or something. There's gotta be an easier way to do this.

I'm all for later too, my last day of classes is the 25th, so it's not ideal.

Some options for scheduling:

1. Move this discussion to the Wiki and thrash out a date there
2. Create a Yahoo! group and a poll for voting on dates
3. Use iCal or similar software for group scheduling (a pain to set up)
4. Keep suggesting dates here until we find one that everyone can make, before this post rolls of the front page (yeah, right)

There is a new Yahoo! poll, which may or not be a better way to select a date than using the Wiki.

With all of the preferences for 'I can do odd numbered Mondays and even numbered Tuesdays but not alternating Saturdays' etc, perhaps the meet should be a three day long conference in a hotel, then we just use the hotel bar all day long. (Sorry to be a smartarse, this is just how we do it with the industry meetups ;-))

Anyway, in an effort to get this moving again (and also as a finals-revision-procrastination measure), I have taken substantial liberties with the Wiki (she seemed willing, what can I say?). Apologies in advance if I messed something up.

I have copied across people's preferences from the Yahoo! poll. I also added some Saturday dates (as there were quite a few votes for "Other Saturdays" in the poll). And I played with the formatting a little bit.

At the moment it looks like everyone will be meeting up on the 25th, while Adrian and I will be sitting in a bar on the 18th drinking San Miguels and complaining about how non-inclusive you all are.

Can we have some names under the Saturdays to see if any of those are practical? And any other dates added?

I vote for a date in July - I want to see all the guys from the last meetup, plus all newbies!

Anyway, i-cola has a fresh batch of stories to tell us, right? Has to be when he can make it. Lets do it after the exam season is over.
