Anyone going to defcon this year?
I went to DefCon V (back when the Monte Carlo first opened) and it sucked so much that it never occurred to me to return. Is it interesting yet?

If your definition of "interesting" is hanging out with friends, tooling around Vegas, getting very (very) drunk and possibly meeting new people, then yes it's interesting.
If your definition of "interesting" is actually going to the talks, then no.

In related (but practically outdated) news, who's coming to HOPE?

I was supposed to go, but the magazine that wants me to cover the story isn't willing to pony up travel expenses up front...so the odds are against it now. The perils of being a freelancer.

Perhaps us MeFi-ers should grab a drink some night in Vegas... this is my first time going to DefCon, but it sounds like it'll be pretty silly.

Sure, I'd be down for a drink. I would say sometime during Friday or Saturday day? Definately not Saturday night, as that is the "party night".

I've been to defcon the last five years and I've enjoyed it each time. I always learn something. I always have fun.
But it is a hackers convention. So expect it to be chaotic and disorganized. Also expect it to be way too crowded. What they provide is gold. How they provide it is a bit hardcore.

I'll be talking again, this time playing games with DNS instead of TCP. Should be a blast :-)
