DC meetup proposal, Screen on the Green July 27, 2004 9:43 PM   Subscribe

Hey MefiDC, how about a Screen on the Green meetup one of these Mondays? Preferably a non-rainy one.

I can heartily recommend "The Thin Man" (August 9th) or "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" (August 16th) as being very entertaining films. If I had to choose, I'd give the edge to Mr. Smith...especially given the setting for the screening.

Of course, heads might explode at the concept of a politician who comes to Washington filled with the desire to make a positive difference. Just remember that this was made back in 1939 when people could still believe in such a thing.

I will be at "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" this coming Monday. Oh yes. This I vow.

Might make it to "Mr. Smith" too.

We've been to both so far, though we left when the rain started this past Monday. We're planning on hitting all of them.

MrsMoonPie has been getting down there around 5:30 to grab a spot, then I relieve her around 7. Our blanket can accomodate 4 comfortably, but we could probably arrange to stake out more area, if more people are coming.

Anyone's who's interested can shoot me an email, and then we can exchange cell phone info to coordinate a meeting spot once we're all down there.

I would try to come to Baby Jane this Monday, if I can. Have never seen this creepy movie before!

That's one way to get me interested in coming...

Let's do Baby Jane this Monday, then.

I'm a bit confused here: the main SotG page says Mall between 4th and 7th St, but the movie page says 15th St. Which is it? And where shall we meet?

I've already made plans to meet up with friends, but I'd love to say "hi" to folks. Last year there were people who made little flags and banners to stake out their spots and serve as a meeting point. How about a blue flag?

It's 4th and 7th, with the screen near 4th. At least, that's where it's been the past two weeks. It hasn't been at 15th and Constitution for two years.

Anyone still reading this thread? NortonDC and I are still planning to come, and I might stop at Subway to pick up dinner. Anyone else want to place an order? :)

Once we get down there, we're going to look for Mr. and Mrs. MoonPie.

Hookay, well now, it sure is raining. Note: do NOT call the number listed for "in case of rain" at the digitalcity or washington post site; it's a hospital, and they will mock your petty cinematic interests!

Guys, it's off. Email me or MrMoonPie for new details.
