We seemed to settle on Saturday, August 13th at the Four Moon. Who all can still make it then?

saturday's the 14th, right? what time was the meetup scheduled to begin?

Ah, so it is. My bad. As to the time, nothing has been proposed yet. Anyone wanna suggest something?

BTW, I probably wouldn't be able to make the 13th, which was the only specific date that was mentioned in the previous thread (although if it's on the later side that night I might be able to make a cameo.)

i probably can't make it the 14th, either, actually. or the following saturday, but i like the Four Moon!

Well, I said "the weekend of the 13th". I recall that 40 Watt couldn't make that weekend either.

Hee, I was going to post a thread like this in a day or two. But mine would have had more cursing. We are still on for any day that you guys can meet that weekend. The next weekend isn't good for us.

Northside is good, as well as anywhere el-accessible. We don't know too many bars, really. We're boring old married people.

Just an FYI, Retro On Roscoe Street Festival will be happening that weekend which is Ground Zero for our proposed meeting place. I will also be playing at the show so I can't make the 14th. Sigh...

Hmm... There seems to be less enthusiasm this time around, but we can probably still cobble together a small crew. As for the Roscoe St. Festival, the Hopleaf was also suggested if we want to avoid the madding crowd.

i'm enthusiastic! just busy the 14th, and the 21st, actually.

I'm generally in favor of avoiding madding crowds. But who actually can make it?

I can probably swing it on the 14th, but weekdays always work better for me. And I second (myself) on Hopleaf.

Corpse and I can make the 14th, but we seem to be in the minorty. Is it the whole weekend that's bad for people or just that Saturday? Would Friday the 13th be better? Because then I can show up in my hockey mask and slaughter the lot of you.*

And we love the Hopleaf, which is also walking distance for our soon to be apartment, but we'll go anywhere, because, well, that's just the kind of crazy kids we are. However, we, too, prefer to avoid maddening crowds on general principle.

*just kidding.

i can do friday the 13th or sunday the 15th, or even thursday the 12th--just not the 14th. (i'll whine about having to go all the way up to foster avenue but then, i'm something of a prisoner of my neighborhood).

The 15th would be OK. Not so sure about the 13th.

Sunday doesn't work for us -- my mama is coming to town that evening. The 13th is fine, though.

How do all these other cities do it?
posted by sugarfish at 7:54 PM on August 2, 2004

Here's what I propose:

Anyone who can make it on any of the 13th, 14th or 15th email me (in profile) saying what day or days are ok. I will pick a day such that the greatest number of respondents can make it. All you other people will just be screwed because I think I read in the bylaws that there can only be one meetup per city per year.

[B]ut then, i'm something of a prisoner of my neighborhood.

Hey, you can't complain about being a prisoner of your neighbourhood until you've lived in Hyde Park without a car.

i should say "willing prisoner" of my neighborhood. i do, in fact, own no car but live in old town, not hyde park, and get terribly lazy when called upon to leave it.
