Logging onto MeFi via a Sidekick is currently impossible. August 7, 2004 7:46 PM   Subscribe

Logging onto MeFi via a Sidekick is currently impossible. Is there any quick fix to this? The Sidekick browser times out when trying to access the Login_action.cfm page. Matt has said this probably won't get fixed. But is there something in the coldfusion code that can be slightly tweaked to allow logging in? I know of at least a handful users that would love to be able to access their mefi account on their Sidekick.

I can't fathom this - isn't the final page just regular rendered HTML? What could be choking the sidekick browser, the layout? The way cookies are handled?

I think the site is missing the requisite coolness meta tags to be displayed on a Sidekick.

Being able to login anywhere from the Sidekick is a bit of a mixed bag, usually because of limited JavaScript support. With MeFi, it times out, and Danger would need a MeFi login (how's that for a cheap excuse) to test this.

But they won't need to. I got a chance to handle a developer's next-gen device at a party and, of course, my first test was to log into MetaFilter - a success! - so this is coming. Lots of coyness about when, though, and exactly how the browser improvement will make it to the current devices.
