The thread on copyright was closed to comments after 24 hours. I assume that either there is a bug that made the thread think it was 30 days old, or Matt has decided that all that needed to be said has been said. Either option points to a problem with the system somewhere.

Arg! Cannot respond! Thoughts frustrated! Kyrademon SMASH!

Er, I mean, there's some more I rather would have liked to post there. Ahem.

I think it has to do with the tagging.

I blame the RIAA

I hope it's not the latter, that thread has remained fascinating and civil 100 comments+ in. For some reason it closed after I added the tags to it.

I too am disappointed at this. The discussion was interesting and I hope that it wasn't closed on purpose.

No its gotta be the bug with adding tags...

Yeah, I was just like going to totally post a comment and everything.

Don't give us too much time to think up new posts, Matt! Re-open now!

D'oh, it was the tagging page used to add tags to the thread that closed it. I'll fix it today.

Ah, good. Then there will be no more of this artificial scarcity.

Is it artificial scarcity, or did the thread simply abuse its limited monopoly over itself?

This is an interesting phenomenon. What would be the real-life equivalent? We are all out to eat together, and we have an argument, and then we have to leave the restaurant. And then, even though we all meet again on a number of occasions, it's understood that this particular conversation is tabled until we go back into the same restaurant. Someday, someone will have to write a paper about it or something (and then release that paper to the public).

Under a creative commons license, natch.

Only because collecting royalties on it would be so troublesome.

Um...I guess we don't get the thread back.
