Search Timeouts September 19, 2001 10:18 AM   Subscribe

The search facility is basically dead on its feet: I get timeouts 9 times out of 10. Understandable, given the size of the DB, but might it be worth outsourcing (ie, a Googlified site:www.metafilter.com link)?

Especially since MeFi threads come up high on so many Google searches. I think it could certainly be an alternate.

done.

If I get time to do it tonight, I'll work on more advanced searching, so you can limit the search requests to just links, comments, or users (should be less timing out, since the search won't be so deep).
