Mid-Missouri meetup? July 10, 2005 10:15 AM Subscribe
Anybody in Mid-Missouri want to have a meet-up? According to my user page there are just 5 users near Columbia:
badger_flammable, xhepera, nitsuj, zsazsa, cadastral.
Anybody I missed? Anybody up for a pint or whatever?
[MI about a possible NYC meetup]

I'm in Springfield, MO--however I'm on a gig/performance schedule that has got my time so locked up right now there's no way I'm leaving town anytime soon.

Actually, I had never met anyone I've known online until about a month ago when I travelled to Austin to meet some some people who are on a Brunching Shuttlecocks fan board. It was really cool to see people in the flesh that I had been conversing with daily for five years.

I'd love to meet you, schuyler. The Antarctica bar across from my job is a good locale.

nitsuj: Whenever, I leave for NY on the 21st, but pretty much anytime before then...does flatbranch sound good, or do you have another suggestion? Are you in downtown Columbia? I oscillate between Rocheport (where i live) and Columbia (where all my friends live)...so just let me know whats up...
NY folk: I'll be staying with afroblanca in the east village, so I probably need to see if he'd prefer somewhere close. That said, I will be there for a week, I'll have plenty of time to come out and have a drink at antarctica...
sourwookie: I plan on being in Missouri for the indefinite future, so maybe when your schedule isn't so hectic. Also, does your band play any gigs in columbia? what is your band called?

afroblanca's a good kid, he'll gojust about anywhere, since the East Village and the West Vilage arent that far apart, and this joint is very generous with the free drinks as Divine Wino can attest.

I'm in several. First, I play bass Bell Dora (I'm the one in the upper left). We've mostly played the Blue Note doing shows with The Legendary Shack Shakers. Additionaly I play organ for Eric Weiler. We've also played The Blue Note several times with Big Smith (I've also recorded and appeared on one of their albums. I've done some session and performance work with Stephanie Dosen. I also play in a 70's style metal band called The Filthy Thirds (we write originals in the the style of Sabbath, AC/DC and Kiss). In addition to these I also do about four nights of Jazz a week.
I keep busy.

Columbia's a small enough town... I think it's probably impossible that we don't know each other, already. Email me with info, I'll go have a drink with you.

I live and work in downtown Columbia. And speaking of Columbia and music/bands, I run a website which you've probably heard of, ComoMusic, and I book shows at The Blue Note and Mojo's as my dayjob. Small world!
