Comedy of Server Errors August 15, 2005 11:16 AM   Subscribe

Sorry for the downtime, I was tweaking one small aspect of the server when a comedy of errors ended up with two hours of hair pulling before the server was reachable once again. Everything should be back to normal now.

Interesting error: when I clicked into MetaTalk to check on my post, the comment-posting box was there with some odd HTML tags in it -- tags and such - and I could type in the box - but there was no preview and post button. Thanks for the repair work!

On live preview - in Firefox - I get a lengthy dark grey box and then my post text appears.

and another error: when I click on my post it's here, but it still says 0 posts on the main thread page.

(On live preview - the long live preview window is fixed now)

Matt, I just made a thread for the issue By The Grace of God's describes - our threads crossed. My quote screwed up the FP's layout. If you want you can delete my thread.

Yes, I pulled out a bit of code that was being called up in many places, and it took me about ten minutes to remove all references to it.

So there shouldn't be any freaky phantom code breaking things anymore.

No problem. Glad everything's working again.

Everything should be back to normal now.

For various permutations of "normal." YMMV.

Thanks matt, for making me realize I have an unhealthy addiction to your website. On the good side, I seem to have whittled my compulsions down over the years to only one website. Unfortunately, it's yours.

Matt I was in the process of posting an AskMe question when things broke down. After the server returned clicking post resulted in the preview page even though on further checking the question was posted. I'm not sure if that was because of the specific timing of my post or because there is a current problem with posting proccess to AskMe.
