This IRL post concerns an event with a long lead time. It's been closed/archived long before the event. Should we rethink archiving posts long before the event? [I tried to use the contact form, but got some weird error page about an invalid construct]
Has a thread ever hit the wall? That is, still been active and chatty (with more than two participants) when it was time for auto-archiving?
The post regarding Gannongate, started on February 14th, now has close to 600 comments. I appreciate how it has been kept current by faithful posters, but I'm afraid it's going to fall off the edge of Metafilter into the Archive. What's the proper thing to do with a thread that continues to attract posts two weeks after its initial appearance?
I'm assuming it's related to this, but when I'm not logged in, each thread in the blue ends with the "This thread is archived and is closed to new comments" message, instead of the "Register or login to comment" message.
