NaNoWriMo 2021

National November Writing Month is here. NaNoWriMo is a November writing challenge where participants try and finish 50K words in a piece of writing (WIPs or new). Write on your word processor of choice, analogue or digital - just update your wordcount each day. Post your NaNo account in the comments if you're open to being Writing Buddies. Check in to this thread throughout November to moan and celebrate and discuss past experiences. All versions of Nano welcome: AcWriMo for academics, NaBloPoMo for blog posters - post your version in the comments! [more inside]

NaNoWriMo 2013

Nanowrimo is a week away, are any Mefites taking part this year? If so, are you a planner or a pantser, and what are you thinking of doing? Last year we had our own Metafilter group and several people took part. If anyone took part last year or previously, share your joys and despairs, and any dirty tricks you used, so that any n00bs out there who don't know what Nano is like can know a bit about what to expect. Because November is a ridiculous time to schedule anything

MeFiWriMo! As discussed in this year's NaNo thread, let's do a Metafilter Novel Writing Month from January 15th to February 15th - the deadest time of the year, and so a good one to have a nice concrete goal to work on. [more inside]

NaNoWriMo 2008

like AskMe? help on NaNoWriMo fora!

People who enjoy Ask might like to spend a bit of time on the NaNoWriMo forums this month, particularly the ones where they ask for help on making their plots and characters realistic.

This year, How to take Congress hostage, how much of a body would vultures get through in three days, and how to deliver a baby outdoors. In short, lots of interesting questions getting asked and answered. Last year, a (presumably very young) novelist just wanted to know what having sex was like.
