Dragging poster's previous answers in is not cool

"You also tried to fill a zippo with butane, so I'll reserve judgement." Everyone will likely tell me I've got my panties in a wad as that is the common response here at MeTa, but it'd be great if people didn't attempt to discredit the experience and advice of others on AskMe based on unrelated advice threads. Having to worry someone's going to throw your history of questions in your face later as an indication you are stupid or unable to give advice to others on different topics seems a bit shady. I'm not saying this is an established pattern, just that it'd be helpful to keep in mind.

AskMe is not the proper venue for resolving your petty vendettas.

Mayor Curley takes a perfectly innocuous, neutral question which was getting some interesting responses and turns it into a NYC vs Boston grudge match. AskMe is not the proper venue for resolving your petty vendettas and urban insecurities. That's what the blue is for.

Dangerous comment, please delete

This isn't funny. Though I concede that the probability of anyone actually doing it is remote, the comment is nonetheless inappropriate.

Askme is for answering the question

ParisParamus, cut it out. Please. Your hateful spewing on AskMe does not help anyone. You're not "bucking the lefty trend", you're just being a jerk, and polluting an otherwise useful resource. If you really feel the need for release, please be considerate, and try to keep it in the blue. Everyone else, stop feeding the troll. Please.

Let's use our indoor voices

Why am I being yelled at for asking about software to help me do something that I already know is hard? This is my first bad encounter with AskMeFi, otherwise, it's been great.

Can we - even if only briefly - discuss stuff on AskMe?

Can we - even if only briefly - discuss stuff on AskMe or not? This Sopranos thread started off as a question but the discussion of last night's episode was inevitable and almost irresistible. My own opinion, fwiw, is that it would be nice if a little discussion was indeed allowed or, as has happened already, generously overlooked.

please know the answer, ok?

A humble request: if you're going to answer a question in AskMe, please know the answer, ok?

What domain names do I keep, part 1 of N

Umm... is this appropriate for AskMefi? I might not have bristled as much if not for the implication that we will be seeing "more than a dozen" of the same threads in the "next several days," and this was merely "part one" of many. Wendell, I love you man, but, uh, [this is bad].

Politics out of AskMe

Can we please keep politics off AskMetaFilter?

Are two word questions enough details for askme

I appreciate that this has been raised before, but wouldn't it be good etiquette for questions on AskMetaFilter to at least contain a question? Surely two words is not enough?

Nice answers in Onion Askme

Ask MeFi's finest hour. Enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Can we delete this please?

Not designed to solve a problem. Begs a bunch of purely hypothetical discussion. Flamebait right from the very first comment. Heave-ho or what?

Why can't we all be as considerate of each other on MeFi as we are over here on AskMeFi?

Why can't we all be as considerate of each other on MeFi as we are over here on AskMeFi? Is it because it's new, or is it something else? Don't get me wrong, I like a measure of snark & biting wit. But everyone here is so damn nice (which is why it was a great holiday present to us, Matt) that I think I have entered George Costanza's opposite day. Will there be any spillover?
