I've been looking for distraction for quite some time, but checking metafilter regularly for the last five hours has yielded nothing - just KernType lingering at the top. No new posts. Very disheartening. But it did lead me to wonder - what's the longest period of time between new metafilter posts that has occurred in recent years? All time? Same questions for ask and meta, though at least in my limited experience there's very little downtime between ask questions and there can be days without a meta post.
Announcing the new MetaFilter Fundraising for Fun project. dios and rothko/AlexReynolds have agreed to let you guys vote with your dollars, for charity. Throw some cash into the till for the guy you want to take a break for a week, and in the end it all goes to Creative Commons' fundraiser. Think of it as a charity dunk tank: you put down five bucks to toss a few at the guy you love to hate. It'll run for a week, so let's make the fun last.
Where do quadruple line breaks come from? I hit return twice between each paragraph like usual and got that result instead.
So... now that things are rolling again. Was Mefi better before or after the break? Are you still addicted or has your passion for bitter bickering faded?
