Was I really in the wrong here?

Was I really in the wrong here? I posted a question about my car stereo and I got a bunch of great answers. I thanked everyone and posted some additional information. A user posted a lengthy follow-up answer, which I appreciated. But then Thanksgiving, spotty Internet, and just life in general got in my way I didn't have a chance to mess with my car stereo, much less update my AskMe thread. (Frankly, it never occurred to me that people would be on tenterhooks about my Caprice's stereo.)

So then, seven days later, the same user posted this bizarre rant about how I never followed up with the thread. Was I at fault?

Abanadoned questions on AskMe

Abanadoned questions on AskMe:
I think one of the purposes of AskMe is to provide an archive of solutions. Too often, even though the questions are answered by the community, the asker doesn't bother to report back, or forgets about the question. [more inside]

AskMe following on kidney stones

FollowUpFilter: A few weeks back, I mentioned in AskMe that I was diagnosed with a few rather large kidney stones, and many people in the thread gave me some very useful information, and mentioned that the first course of treatment would be lithotripsy, which it was. From there, the plot thickens. [MI]

Let OP update closed posts in AskMe

This is perhaps indulgent, but it would be potentially useful in ask.mefi if the instigator of the thread could post just once after the thread has been frozen. Some questions resolve after several months, and it would be a possible benefit for those googling for information to see closure, i.e. "this is what ended up working the best, x was right" or what have you. Perhaps this is just imposing a false narrative closure on messy reality.

Lumpy Kitty Followup

I really don't know where to put this...

Mefites asked for an update on my lumpy kitty question. Unfortunately, the lumps in question were caused by Cutaneous Lymphosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. (My vet has only seen it 3 times in her 20 years of practice.) After the lumps appeared, she fell ill, and ultimately had to be euthanized two weeks ago.

I just wanted to pass the news along, and thank you all for the suggestions and help in the AskMe question. RIP Qu'Appelle, 1993-2005.

Followup to AskMe Question

Thanks to everybody who answered my AskMe question about wheelchair-accessible train travel in Spain. I'm now back from the trip and have some results to report, but the thread is closed, so I thought I'd put them here in case it's of use to future travelers.

Where to put Askme Followups

Matt, should we use MetaTalk to follow-up our AskMe questions? Or should we use AskMe? Or neither?

anonymous askme has no way to follow up

The first question in this anonymous AskMe post made me realize that there is no way for anyone posting anonymously to provide information beyond the initial query.

Where to post an AskMe followup?

I apologize two-fold, one for my unwilling absence from the scintillating minds that are my MeFi sisters and brethren...and secondly, because this may very well be the wrong arena, but darned if I know where to post AskMe follow ups...so here it is. A month or more back, I asked for advice on taking a specific type of pictures. The advice that I was given, both online, and in one case, carried into email, was invaluable. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed. You not only made me a better photographer, but you taught me a new way to see.

Ancient Chinese subway poem AskMe followup

In the green, I recently posted a question about a poem I once read but couldn't locate. I was asked to post the poem if I found it, which I have. The original thread has been archived, so I'm posting it here. I hope this isn't an etiquette violation. If it is, I'm sorry.

A couple of months ago, I posted a question to AskMe. I now think I have an answer.

A couple of months ago, I posted a question to AskMe. It generated a lot of interest and responses, but no definitive answer. I now think I have an answer. What should I do?

1. Keep it to myself.
2. Post it to the old, archived thread?
3. Make a new FPP?

I suspect #3 would piss some people off (because the FPP wouldn't be asking a new question), but if someone else found an answer to an old question, I'd prefer them to make a FPP. If they posted it to an ancient, archived thread, I would probably never think to go there and read it.
