Since yesterday, I've been unable to use the shortcut to post links in threads. The shortcut window pops up as usual, I paste in the URL, and hit OK. Then the window closes, but without having inserted any code into the text. (I'm using the same ol' IE5 as usual.)

More than a few threads have had the css broken by tags like this:

It completely kills the stylesheet in IE5 on mac. Anyone else notice this problem? Are these tags added by the person posting, or are they part of the server side processes? I've been irked by the digression to no left margin, default font mess the page becomes because of this.

Mac IE 5. Both the "Preview" and "Post" buttons on the link submittal are resolving post_preview.mefi today, resulting in an inabilty to actually post the link once I've verified that everything's hunky-dory.

...and sometimes metafilter crashes my browser (ie5 on windows 2000; lots of times, actually), but if i go to haughey.com, click through to a detail from the menu on the right, then click through to "home" from the top of the page, i get there fine. quite odd, and i wonder why this is. i also wonder why photoshop always crashes right along with the browser, and only when i go to metafilter.

i do love metafilter, though, and this is the only thing that prevents me from loving metafilter in an "all-out monkey love slamfest" sort of way. well, not really.
