How about an 'ignore thread' option? That way people like this can ask for advice without people like this complaining about it.

Hi, would a "filter user comments" option be a lot to ask? There are a few users who just never really say anything useful or contributory, and I think if I could just filter them out it would be nice.

How about putting the names of posters at the beginning of posts either instead of or in addition to at the end of posts? People are always saying, "Well, if you don't like what [x] says, just ignore him," but it would be easier to ignore people if you knew up front it was them posting.

Just to let you know, in response to a lot of requests, I'm working on a personalized version of metafilter. No two members will see the same entries because it's going to start catering to your needs. If you like member A's links and comments, they'll get floated up. If you don't care for member B's argumentitive tone, they'll disappear from sight, and their comments will be hidden from view.

Once it's done, it's going to rock.
