One FanFare feature I've asked for in the past is the ability to bump older posts back to the top of the timeline. We could do this based on films coming to streaming, being re-released, getting a sequel, etc. While I am requesting that again, today's pony is a new pony, as I have figured out a possible logical way to do that... Inspired by this post on the blue about Barack Obama's summer reading list, I thought it would be interesting if mefites posted lists of what they plan to or have read, listened to, or watched this summer. I don't want to leave out people in the Southern Hemisphere, though, so feel free to post seasonal lists for whatever the season you may be experiencing!

I've been enjoying the list of jokes riffing on 'Hung like a museum's prize painting' in the Lulu thread. However, as a screen reader user, I'd like to request that, in the future, users wanting to participate in such a joke don't copy and paste the whole list in their post just to add one more at the end. It makes the thread unreadable to have to try and skip over long, repeated lists to get to new content. Thanks!

In the This American Life blog post which is a list of the staff's favorite lists of other sites' favorite This American Life episodes, Ira links to a 2005 AskMeFi thread in which MetaFilter members named their favorites. Notably, there was remarkable consensus among lists of that vintage and the lists that were published this month to observe the show's 500th episode. I'm fairly surprised there hasn't been a more recent thread along those lines.

Sometimes you spend a disproportionate amount of time putting together a Mefi FPP on a subject that is dear to your heart, making sure it's not a double, researching links for the More Insides, framing it just right to pique interest a little, but not be fight-bait... and then you hit POST...And nobody responds. Maybe it's just my love of ἀρετή, but to me, the best thing about the end of the year is the best-of-year lists. I can't help it! I love it when professionals and friends start reeling off their picks of excellence in a Gregorian-calendrically-delimited fashion. Could we have just one place where Mefites get to say what were the best albums, books, movies, poems, gadgets, concerts, political events, celebrity pratfalls, Supreme Court opinions, and websites of 2008?
