mefiscripts github repository

Mefites use a bunch of userscripts, stylesheets, and bookmarklets to customize the site, but we don't have a place to collaboratively maintain them. What if we had a shared Github organization where authors could contribute their scripts for community maintenance? I've put one up over at github.com/mefiscripts/mefiscripts, and if folks think it's a good idea I'd love to have you join. [more inside]

Open sourcing the metafilter code base

It’s been a little over ten years since the subject was last raised (at least based on a search for “open source”), but I’m curious if there’s been any thoughts about open-sourcing the MetaFilter codebase or admin tools. (I imagine the answer is “no”, especially to that last one.)

Standards for *Filter

Got Standards? With a least two "metafilter-like" open source projects currently in active development and potentially hundreds of foofilters on the horizon, isn't it time we began discussing at least the standard parameters for submitting to a foofilter site? (more inside)

Anyone still interested in the PHP-Metafilter project?

Is anyone still interested in the PHP-Metafilter project? From looking at the sourceforge pages, it doesn't appear that any work was ever done on it. I've been working on a project for my company, part of which involves our own internal version of metafilter. It's not an exact clone of MeFi, but it's definately inspired by it. I'd be glad to donate it to the project, if everyone finds it appropriate & acceptable.

How about making the membership information opt-in open source

How about making the membership information opt-in open source. Anyone who wanted could download the membership information in a variety of formats. Users who checked a box in their profile could then use their username on any other site that wanted to use it.

Opening MeFi development?

Matt: I admittedly don't know much about the development process you use for Meta*, whether it's all you (which is the impression that I get) but have you ever considered opening it up?

Open Source MetaFilter Code

Perhaps this isn't a "feature", but has there been any thought of open sourcing the metafilter, etc, code, similar to how Slashdot does it? Just curious.
