Happy weekend, MetaFilter! Don't miss our August fundraising or this week's Weird Science theme! I really love when we do "show us your X" metatalktails, so this week I want you to show us the view out your window! Or, if you don't love your view (but I love seeing your view! No matter what it is!), show me your favorite local view in your town!
Could there be a view of all of the posts across all of the sites, MetaFilter, AskMetaFilter, MetaTalk, FanFare, FanFareTalk (???), Projects, IRL, etc.? I love the unique feel of the different sites, but I would love one place to see the flow of activity. Maybe CircuMetaFilter? Would this have a homogenizing effect? Impossible in Cold Fusion? Already attempted and failed miserably?
Out of curiosity (or work deadline avoidance), anyone know why the MetaFilter entry on Wikipedia suddenly get a lot more "readership" or views than normal for the five days of January 5th to 9th inclusive, then suddenly go back down to the previous background level? [more inside]
What does MetaFilter look like to moderators? [more inside]
On individual user activity pages it appears as if the "X users marked this as a favorite" disappears for a given post if you have added that post as a favorite yourself. [more inside]
View all comments/posts by this user. Some time in the past six months (possibly very recently), the "View all comments/posts" interface has changed. Instead of being an enormous page, referencing every post made (sometimes into the thousands), the big list is now split up into batches of 50. [This is good] - it's a no-brainer way of reducing server load. That said, could there be a way of viewing every post on one page?
