You can celebrate by revisiting an older Kottke thread (you can almost tell the tongue from the cheek). Check it out and be patient: after a relatively short time, the entire thread goes refreshingly apeshit.

Happy birthday, Mr. K. Sorry I've given you so much crap.

my god, you people are gullible. it's not actually his birthday; he and matt got together to plan a scheme to /pretend/ it's his birthday. "i'll post something on kottke.org!" jason said. "and i'll post something on metafilter!" matt said. and then, the same thought popped into their heads at the exact same moment. "LET'S MAKE A T-SHIRT," they both exclaimed at the exact same time, "that way we can profit from our hoax!"

oh, and if you believe it's kottke's birthday today, then i've got news for you. it was /my/ birthday on monday. and peter merholz's birthday on tuesday.

and if you believe /that/, i've got a bridge for sale...

oh, and in case anyone didn't get why I made the shirt look like it does or why it says what it says, here's the full explanation:

CrazyUncleJoe calls Jason "mr. crankypants" early this year, which I don't think jason enjoyed, and it became a sort of nickname anyone gets when they're poo-pooing ideas on metafiler, or in metatalk.

Jason wears (I do too) 37signals shirts from time to time, including the I AM A PERSON shirt.

So, I put those two things together, aping the 37signals style for the fonts and logo on the back, with CUJ's phrase on the front.

Funny, see?

heh. Jason may be three weeks older than me, but he's still my non-evil twin.
