I did try to cut metafilter out of my life once. I even tried to edit my hosts file to banish the site. However, due to the use of wildcards this simplistic approach was not sufficient to block myself.

Now now. This is no time for trashing the reception party. Disagree with SDB all you want, (and i do, largely.) he is a memorable member of mefi mostly missed. If we start talking shit about every member we disagreed with and think the site is better off without every member we had serious contentions with, then we're precisely the echo chamber dios always claimed we are. I, for one, would like to think we're not. If son_of_minya returned, so long as I had my weekly meta post to do it in, I would happily write up full meta reception post, complete with as many puns about right hand removal I could come up with. (current count = 0)

Although I was a lurker during those days, so I view a lot of those old crazy fights as entertainment more than anything else.

Speaking as someone who was a big fan of SDB's late blog but who never got to interact with him on MeFi, I think it would be peachy keen to have him back around here.

Plus, as someone who has had to defend slash fan fiction a few times on various MeFi threads, I can sympathize with someone who has to defend liking anime. Geek types need to stick together.
