Lost thread: wine crushing catastrophe December 2, 2005 8:58 PM   Subscribe

Please help me find an old (say, last 18 months) mefi thread: I don't remember what the thread itself was about, but within it, someone posted a link to a video of an accident a newscaster had while standing in a grape-crushing/wine-making vat on a stage. She falls, gets winded, and makes this weird gurgling noise. Almost immediately thereafter, someone posted a "remix" mp3 of the gurgling audio. I've rarely laughed so hard, but cannot think of the right key words to search for so I can share it with others.....

Also, I'm working under the assumption that since I'm asking a metafilter-specific question, that this is more apropos here than on ask.mefi. Please set me straight if I have that wrong.

I missed this the first time around ... the link on the original thread is now broken, but you can now find it here: http://www.q101.com/av/video/woody/Grape_Stompin.mpeg

Unfortunately the .mov link seems to have expired. I found this embedded wmv file link here. The meme seems to be labelled "grape lady" so I'm sure Google will provide.

There's a rather funny mp3 out there where they've mashed her guttural moanings with a Led Zeppelin song.

Not having any luck finding it...

The grape lady was hilarious not only for the obvious reasons, but because the whole setup was ginormously stupid and asking for exactly that accident to happen

Hilarious and mildly disturbing.

There is a site out there that offers a good theory as to the whys and hows. I'd link to it if I could remember it.

She fell off while attempting to cheat!

Apparently, it was a competition to see who could get the most grape juice. The reporter told the other lady to stop, then thought she's be clever and start stomping again to get an advantage. In her exuberance she fell off. I hadn't noticed that before, and it makes it xxtra funny.

/I have unhealthy obsession with regards to video footage of people falling over.

I think there is a whole undiscovered subgenre of porn waiting to be exploited for you, a sort of amateur sex-tape bloopers reel.

Does anyone know what happened to that woman? I wonder if there is video of her coming back after the commercial trying to say she was okay.
