Dead project link should be deleted February 7, 2006 9:25 PM Subscribe
dead project. The link was to the ebay sale of this thing which ebay removed for whatever reason (copyright violation, maybe)? Maybe the link should be changed or the post deleted (and perhaps the poster could be allowed to repost another URL)
It's okay, but I think that posting links to eBay pages as a "project" is questionable.

Yeah, I awoke to an email saying it was pulled for copyright/intellectual property reasons. It sucks, doubly so because they do nothing about the sale of game characters/currency, but nail me for a crocheted toy. I'm looking for an alternative place to sell it, since there seemed to be quite a bit of interest in it among the FFXI communities I hang around in, and I don't want to keep the damned thing.

You could always advertise it on your own web site. This way you still get to sell the thing, and you don't have to give eBay any money for doing so...

If it's worthy of being a project, it really should have its own permanent page. Not just a transient eBay thing.

Etsy is the perfect place for buying and selling homemade stuff.

I considered selling it on my site, and I've sold on Etsy before, but I had no idea how many hits I was going to get after I initially posted it on a FFXI site, and didn't want to completely kill my bandwidth or require people to sign up for another auction site, which is why it was put on Ebay with the photos on Flickr.
As for giving it its own page and the appropriateness of linking to an ebay auction as a project page, I neither came up with the idea to post it here, nor did I do the actual posting of the link. That was entirely my husband's doing, and I did suggest to link to my Flickr stuff, but he decided to do the Ebay link instead.

Ah, I was thinking of linking to the flickr page in this thread, but decided the blog post was more apropriate.
