I just wanted to say thank you March 25, 2006 10:51 PM   Subscribe

I just wanted to say thank you to AskMeFi / MeFi in general. I've asked several questions and usually gotten great help. Specifically, I asked this one a while ago about neighborhoods in Chicago, and I have an update [more inside].

Since the time of that post, I got a substantial raise, and then a promotion which included another raise, so my price range for a condo changed significantly. Thanks to the great advice in the thread, I looked for a real long time, and plan to close on a condo on April 28th of this year - my first purchase ever! It's in Logan Square, near Kedzie and Armitage.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question, and to everyone who's answered any others, too. I really appreciate it. This community rocks.

Congrats on the raises, and welcome to the neighborhood! When the weather gets warm, take a walk down to Armitage & Lyndale, there's a great little (seasonal) Italian Ice stand.

It's great to know that the gentrification of Chicago's historic neighborhoods marches on! Congratulations on your condo!

Thanks for the congrats... it's a scary thing for me (the commitment/decision, not the neighborhood, hopefully), but I'm excited...

As for the gentrification thing... I certainly see downsides to it, too, but the increase in safety in the neighborhoods is a good thing...

twiggy - good show; I too found your questions to be quite helpful in my search. I'm finally leaving the soul-crushing burbs April 1st, I found a place roughly two miles east of where you are; Enjoy your new surroundings!
