Seattle Meetup April 11, 2006 10:55 AM   Subscribe

Hey, Seattle! How'd you like to meet up on the weekend of April 29-30? We'll probably have people from both North and South joining us. Let's talk about time and place.

(side note: sometime this year, prolly mid-summer, me and pips will hopefully make a trip to Seattle and we expect that y'all will be there to pour beer down my gullet)

I'd vote for the Nickerson Street Salon. They have a reasonable beer selection, pool tables, and enough space for a significant crowd.

What's the public transport like to Nickerson Street, though? I think it's kind of sketchy unless you're coming from downtown or Fremont.

Salon, Saloon. pick pick pick. I didn't think about bus-ability, doh.

The Elysian on Capitol Hill worked pretty well last time.

Pi is in, and can carry some folks up from Portland in the Pi-mobile. I will force them to listen to the Hard 'n Phirm Pi song.

Just an FYI, the Fremont neighborhood is undergoing massive traffic construction right now.

The bus stop is a block north of the saloon. Get off at 34th and Fremont and walk south across the Fremont Bridge:

from downtown: 26, 28

From U-District: 31, 74

Plan your bus trip here

To clarify:

The bus routes 17, 26, 28, 31, & 74 will get you the Nickerson St Saloon vicinity.

I'd love to go, if someone can give me a ride from Olympia, and if I can get into the venue (I'm not yet 21, and lack fack ID).

Nickerson Saloon is all ages.

Over and over, the whole way up? I'd like to see an extended version of that song that lasts for hours. Or... infinity.

Yay for all ages! Might I get a ride from Πisexactlythree?
posted by blasdelf at 3:40 PM on April 11, 2006

Is anyone from Seattle besides me and agropyron coming to this one? Or is it just a very northerly Portland meetup?

I always go to these things, you might as well figure I'll be at this one too.

Pi, do you want to post this to Monkeyfilter too?

Me and the mister will be there.

Speaking as a longtime local bus rider, that is a less than bus friendly location. None of those routes run that often after dark and two involve transfers downtown, which, after dark, becomes less and less a fun place to be the later it gets, especially if one is traveling alone. And then there are the people on the bus, who, as the night grows on, tend to evolve from Protoceratopsians into Styracosaurs in terms of their affective displays, so to speak. Just sayin'.

y2karl fills out the point I was trying to make earlier about the sketchiness of buses to that location. I'd suggest that our choices are either the Elysian or the Big Time, with the caveat that the Big Time may not have enough room for all of us.

I miss Seattle. Boo.

Have fun, and a big shoutout to warbaby and the warmobile!

I will be coming in the USLS Indominable barring unforseen accidents, acts of war or other disruptions of the celestial order.

Perhaps we could consider this a South Bellingham meetup. I will have room for riders from the Canadian border south in the LandShip.

I'll be there. Unfortunately, I live close to the Elysian and my bike seats one...

BTW - JonMc, keep me posted as to when you and Pips are planning to visit! We'll get together for some beers!
