I think AmbroseChapel just wants the comments in the thread deleted.

The first comment was the only one that answered the question, so I left it and removed the rest.

Nothing to see here, ma'am. Move along.
C'mon, folks. Keep moving. Go on home, show's over.

jessamyn, there was half a dozen followup comments debating 9/11 and the legibility of the new memo vs. the old one.
but the question wanted the link, and the link is there.

As a graphic designer, I'd have to say I agree. Please delete him.
P.S. Holy shit, that thread got pruned back to nothing.

I don't understand what is going on here.
That's what happens when comments get deleted.

I think part of the reason why people dislike the policy of deleting comments is because these same people are arrogant enough to think that they need to be aware of everything that's going on here (and the idea of a "behind the scenes" is reprehensible).
I further believe that when people are truly able to step away from the site, and all of its characters, side plots, fights, etc., the incessant need to see deleted comments dissipates significantly.
As the MeFi FAQ becomes solidified, the argument that keeping deleted comments as a tutorial for people will die. Further, as more people understand the need for editing (on a small and large scale, since most unedited works are pure garbage), the argument that deletions=censorship will die.
Sorry for the rant. I find the "every comment is precious" crowd to be loud, obnoxious, and I wouldn't mind if they were accidently "edited out".

To reduce confusion -
AmbroseChapel took exception to McGuillicuddy's use of something 9/11 related and suggested that it was in no way funny.
McGuillicuddy responded in a friendly manner suggesting that AmbroseChapel should stay on topic.
AmbroseChapel then accused McGuillicuddy of being a complete penis. Even going so far to suggest that McGuillicuddy was so insensitive that he wouldn't hesitate to make fun of child with birth defects to further his Zionist document formatting agenda.
McGuillicuddy apologized for anything he might have said that could in any way have been offensive to 9/11 survivors or deformed children.
AmbroseChapel then posted Photoshoped pictures of McGuillicuddy having sex with Hitler.
McGuillicuddy replied that such things were perhaps uncalled for, and offered AmbroseChapel a hug.
AmbroseChapel then offered to come over and engage in anal sex with McGuillicuddy.
McGuillicuddy said that didn't sound like fun, but thanks for the offer.
It got weird after that.

y6y6y6 -- You missed the bit where I posted WHERE ARE THE WINGS!!!1!?.
I admit to being completely off-topic, (following the ) but still, the clear implication in the page linked to -- that if the White House had employed some espresso-sipping, black-polo-neck-wearing hipster to design their memos then 9/11 would never have happened -- just a tad offensive.
McG thought I was some 9/11 nut.

You know, if you step even further away from the site, and walk away without looking back, you'll find that you no longer care at all, and further, you will no longer annoy those who continue (for whatever reasons of hereditary insanity) to hang out here with your supercilious comments. Win-win!

AmbroseChapel, you have to understand that any defense of askmehattery that starts with "I admit to being completely off-topic, but..." is doomed from the start.

I'm not quite sure why you have a horse in this race, languagehat, but I guess your "nice guy routine" is saved only for those who, in your opinion, are the "underdogs". Therefore, I'll take it as a compliment that you've sought to insult me.

y6y6y6 captured the thread beautifully. As a postscript, a certain AC and I did partake in rough sex with some of the cast from of the movie "Flight 93" and a slew of deformed orphans. Except for the little boy who would only say "You call that a cockpuppet!??!" and "I Have No Anus".
Of course, it all came about only after Ambrose redesigned his written invitation in outlined format to better highlight the significance of the previously obscured point "4.1.1. 9/11 Is No Joke (Git up, git down, 911 Is A Joke In My Town)". And that, my friends, answered all my questions.
My apologies to anyone offended.

STD: It never ceases to amaze me that people who have no compunction about telling other MeFites they're arrogant, loud, and obnoxious, and happily say "I wouldn't mind if they were accidently 'edited out,'" get all whiny when someone treats them with anything other than kid gloves. As I've said before in similar circumstances: if you can't take the heat, stop waving a flamethrower.
