Is this jerky?
Changed my mind. Hell no. AskMe is a precious resource that should not be squandered with questions that could easily be answered with a 30 second search.

I'm kind of axeme stupid, but doesn't the fact that it's posted by anonymous mean the question has the explicit approval of the mods? If so, yeah.

It might be jerky, but the first couple of links in google are fairly clear on how marijuana causes bloodshot eyes. If you needed clarification on the explanations given in those links you should have put that in the question.
For a third, it was an interesting question that I might never have thought to ask if someone hadn't AxMe'd.
Ask.me is not for interesting questions or conversations, it's use is for solving problems.

Problems such as "has anyone ever been to an orgy" or "how does evolution explain metamorphosis" or "what's the name of writing with both hands at the same time"? I think "wanting to know things" is a perfectly good reason to post an AskMe question.

Well, bloodshot pothead eyes are (presumably) a problem, if you're a big tokemonkey.
Still, my vote is jerky yes and mildly amusing yes. Basically, a wash. Not an optimal use of AskMe by asker or answer, though.
Perhaps the ol' rephrase posing the question as a problem looking for a solution might've been a better approach.

It should be put on the AskMefi posting page. It is noise but the question was already answered by gyan. If intermod did it every day then there would be problems but the occasional intrusion of the bleeding obvious logic hammer is not so bad.

If you have to post it to AskMe, you really should put the bong down for awhile, or at least invite me over.

I agree, but you have to be careful not to veer into 'chatfiltervile', as the orgy question tried to avoid with the talismanic last sentence.

I have no idea what this post is about, which happens to me about 75% of the time when people post things here like "is this acceptable?" (where "this" is a link to a comment/post that later gets deleted.)
So, whatever it is was has been deleted, right? Right?
It's a lost cause, I know, but could posters please either describe or quote whatever it is they are talking about? I'm always looking at threads and going, "wha? huh?!"

It's not our fault that you don't spend hours here...Seriously, try to make a serious commitment to this place or quit your whining. 4-6 hours/day is the bare minimum to be a responsible member here.

The way it was pointed out is jerky, but the mere act of pointing out that a question is easily Googleable is not jerky.

We see a lot of people answering with some version of "if you google the term 'runcible spoon' you'll probably find the information you're looking for" and this is generally fine. If you think the OP is some sort of an idiot, why don't you just skip their question? This answer -- sorry taz -- was just "This should help" with the words being a hotlink to a rephrasing of the question on justfuckingoogleit.com or whatever it is. The cute part of these sorts of answers is that, when the link is followed, you get a chiding message calling you an idiot and saying that you should be smart enough to use Google, followed by the results on the Google page. Except, of course that Google has blocked that site as a referrer and so you get a Forbidden page on Google. Hilarity!

I find it extraordinary that a question that has had to go through approval for posting is subsequently deleted.
*Bonus: I had never heard of runcible spoons or that runcible stood for Revised Unified New Compiler with IT Basic Language Extended.

tellurian: they made that up.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

I thought my post might result in a MeTa callout, but I'm glad to see that generally we agree that the question wasn't AskMeFi worthy. Not so glad to see that my offending comment got deleted -- it would have been useful to keep (in the deleted thread) so that A) folks here could see what it was and B) the OP could compare a gentle correction ("the answer is easily googleable") to my sanctimonious bitch slap (justfuckinggoogleit linked in the text "Here you go."). Really unhappy that Google now blocks JFGI referrers.
Oh wait, they don't! It works for me right now. Maybe they just started blocking upon the initial MeFi slashdotting. Or we exposed a bug that they've now fixed. Or who knows.
Oh well. Thanks everyone for not piling on to me.
Heroically jerky,
intermod
