Broadcast rights for Mefi Music? July 20, 2006 2:54 PM   Subscribe

Inspired by a comment in the thread for chococat's very excellent song "In The Rain" I was wondering, for those of us with access to campus radio stations, is there a way to broadcast some of the tunes from MeFi Music? Is it basically a matter of contacting the original poster and asking them for permission?

I think it would be exactly a matter of that, yes.

In fact, I think you don't even need to ask, though asking is always nice.

I don't think you have to ask. The music is there for you to download. I don't think you need permission to broadcast it as it's implied when they allowed you to dl.

Oh, though if you email them you're likely to get a better version (non-mp3), more suitable for broadcast.

Yeah, I didn't really mean to imply that terrible things would happen if you just played it. I certainly wouldn't mind. But insofar as there is anything to do, asking is that thing.

And it's always nice to let people know you're playing them on the radio, because it makes them feel warm and fuzzy.
