In an attempt to be a better MeFier, I have a question about this post

I cannot find anything remotely similar to this one posted yesterday or any other day...

Can you point me in the right direction..??

I don't remember it being posted yesterday... but then, I miss a lot.

the vids in question were posted July 21 and, going thru tags, a MeFi search and actually looking at all posts since July 20, there just isn't a dupe...

unless the previous one was deleted as well... but, not being able to see that one would make it rather difficult to know what is a dupe and what isn't...

vids were posted July 21 on YouTube, not on MeFi, I should make clear...

Usually the "deleted" message will link to the original FPP that got duped, I think that's a helpful thing to include.

thx, justkevin... this is a reminder of why tags should be as extensive as possible...

although my post took a completely different take on what was going on (the first used only one of the vids and only as backing for a different subject) it was correctly deleted for being a duplicate, I suppose...

tags, people... tags...

Sorry, I didn't realise that you got rid of the tags from deleted posts.

Whipsmart, for what it's worth, I would never have read the original thread because of the way it was worded, but because of this thread, I got to thoroughly enjoy your deleted post. Also, it's very hard to avoid dupes when the same content is linked on a different URL.

Okay, so a dupe is a dupe, fair enough: but is having a lot of tags to a post a bad thing in itself? I tend to use quiet a few tags on my posts, and sometimes I get comments on that, but I feel it helps future searchers in general and helps prevent dupes in particular. I think it's to be preferred over a post that's tagged only with "video" or "funny". Is this ever bad?

I think it's that the tags stay in the database and you don't want tags from deleted posts cluttering things up and confusing searches.
