Santa Barbara meet-up?

SantaBarbaraFilter? I'm moving to SB in a few weeks and would like to meet MeFites in the area. Anyone for a meetup?

I could be up for that. Can't stomach the drive to L.A. meetups, but I'm in Santa Barbara fairly often.

I could probably be convinced. My wife and I will be in Europe until the 15th, though. (We leave this Friday).

I don't think there are terribly many MeFi-ites in the area, but we'll see what happens, I guess.

I am moving from one SB place to another during that timeframe, but if I'm free (and sane) I'd be interested. One of my housemates is also a MeFite (also moving, and is substantially busier than me during August) and is potentially interested as well.

OK, I'm back from Europe. Great timing to fly through London, no? September might increase the numbers somewhat. At one point, I'd looked at mathowie's google earth thing, and it doesn't look like there are a lot of Santa Barbara people around.

Actually, it sorta seems like most of the Santa Barbara area people are grad students. Perhaps a midweek lunch mini-meetup? Alternatively, the GSA (grad student association) has a bagel hour once a week. (I'm not sure if it's happening during the summer.) Perhaps a meetup there? Free food!
