Reminder: Auckland, New Zealand meetup September 12, 2006 8:02 PM Subscribe
Reminder: Auckland, New Zealand meetup, 15th of September, 6:00 PM-ish at The Loaded Hog on the Viaduct -- which hopefully will not be packed to the gills with the after-work crowd. I'll be the American transplant with the long curly dark hair wearing the black Zabar's baseball cap. If you think you can make it, please give a heads up in this thread.
Not me, I have an irrational dislike of The Viaduct in general, and The Loaded Hog in particular. I hope you guys have a great time though.

I'd was thinking about coming but now have other plans that night. Sorry :(
(still, other plans means I'm having a social life so it can't be all bad right?)

Hi,
Thanks for the invite.
Sorry, I have an intense dislike of viaduct too, *especially* the Loaded Hog. Would love to meet up elsewhere in future though!

As indicated in earlier post, I have babysitting issues. I hope poor toxic and rob511 aren't the only ones!
However, after this Friday... the weather is improving. I live really close to Cornwall Park and could nab a barbecue early on a Sunday or Saturday - what about an outdoor meetup one weekend soon? Say a month from now, Oct 14 or 15, to get everyone's calendars free? I make a mean bean salad for vegematarians.

Clearly the choice of locale was less than ideal this time. My apologies to those who won't step foot in the place.
While we're still on for tomorrow, we'll also do this again somewhere that's less likely to make people want to barf or puke or chunder, or whatever it is you do down here.
Watch this space.

...and yes, the idea of a Cornwall BBQ sounds quite nice.

I like the Cornwall Park idea too. Then I can pretend I'm just a randomite out walking and decide if you're all too scary before wandering over ... ;-)
Besides, it's a great park.

So how was it?
(I quite like the Cornwall Park idea as well. Dirty smokey crowded cities seem to do a lot of the bar meetups, so maybe we can do the nice [spring/summer]time in the park green meetups. Also, I'd like to get drunk in the park, eat a lot of sausages and chops, and then walk my dog home (I'm in Epsom, pretty close by to the park).)

So how was it?
It was quite nice. The Loaded Hog was mostly empty (and the people who were there weren't doing anything that would cause an allergic reaction), the beer seemed fresh and was fairly tasty.
Had a few more mefites showed, it would've been a resounding success. Instead, it was a small gathering where a good time was had by all.
Looking forward to a resounding success at Cornwall in about a month.

P.S. Mmmm, Zabar's — somebody should bring lox and kosher dills!
