Ban Uncapitalized Posts? October 16, 2006 7:39 PM Subscribe
Can we please have a ban on posts that are tiresomely self conscious about ignoring the conventions that apply to capitalization?
This is not pedantry. Capitalization provides the visual clues which enable rapid reading and comprehension. Its absence demands closer attention from the reader, which is excusable if you're e.e.cummings but painfully pretentious if you're not.

IS THIS ENOUGH CAPITALIZATION FOR YOU?????/

What? Has something been edited out of the question between your saying this and my reading it?

Why not just not read them? It's not like there's an epidemic. It's like asking for a ban on lame callouts.
*resists temptation to post a callout that reads "Can we please have a ban on lame callouts" that links to itself*

FWIW, E.E. Cummings did not want his name printed in all lower case. It was a cutesy thing that the publishers did, to which Cummings objected. (wikipedia citation)</derail>

In other words, can we please get a ban on comments that are tiresomely self conscious about ignoring the conventions that apply to staying on topic and not derailing the AskMe?
Oh, wait...
