Kattullus, you're kinda hot.

Kattullus came all the way from Providence for the meetup. Truly hardcore. Thanks, man.

I'm sorry, but I've been to meetups with one other person (/me waves to Orange Swan) and, in fact, went to one where no one else showed up at all.

Your claim to World's Smallest MeFi Meetup EVOR is denied.

There was a recent Portland meetup and pieisexactlythree was the only attendee.

I would think that by definition it takes at least two to qualify as a meetup, so at the very least we are tied with jacquilyne and Orange Swan, and possibly other sad duos, for world's smallest.

jacquilynne (sp), sorry.

I would like to have a meetup this Friday. Super88 for food and Big City for pool/liquor after, like last time?

The smallest meetup award must go to the single meetup where the people are the smallest.

There can be only one.

Quality, not quantity!

At least that's what I tell myself when I reflect on my romantic history. It's a dirty stinking lie, but hey, whatever gets you through the night....

!

I would have gone, except my full-time job is, well, actually full-time.

Ah, yes. You must be referring to the famed meetup in the land of Lilliput, held in 2004. That was a good one, albeit the charges of treason that followed kind of sucked.

At the recent Beijing meet-up, it turned out I'm not half the man I used to be, bokane is a shadow of his former self, blindcarboncopy is something less than fulsome, Pollomacho isn't all there and daveleck's cabbie sabotaged his attendance. This gave a grand total of 1.87 persons in attendance, thus pipping you for the title by mere fractions of a user.

There've been countless meetups here in Korea where zero people showed up. Unless you folks can start pulling negative numbers, I think we all know who the losingest losers in loserland are! Yes, the few, the proud, the fighting 대한 Mefites!

Thanks, econous, I'll try to not let that go to my head :)

I defend this meetups title of World's Smallest MeFi Meetup EVOR! to the death, to the death I say. Clearly, a meetup where one or zero people show up can't qualify as a meetup.

And if you've been at a two-person MeFi Meetup there's nothing stopping you from claiming a title of your own, much like in heavyweight boxing there are 4 different world championship titles. For instance, you could be something like MeFi AllStars AllTime MostSmall MeetUp ForEVAZ! Or something along those lines.

And Abiezer, since I got to the stage of inebriation which in Icelandic is referred as being "half" there were only, by your method, 1.5 people present at The People's Republik, inching under the very low bar set by the Sino-MeFi Summit 2006.

Aw man, I shoulda gone. Then it could have been the Most Awkward MeFi Meetup EVOR!

Dawwwwwwwwww. I got a shoutout with a heart. I feel all fuzzy.

I understand the filter is present whenever two or more are gathered in its name.

It is not a meetup. That was called a date.

That's a Cambridge meet-up, not a Boston meet-up. That's why you had such a low turn-out.

Next time, have a Davis Square meet-up, but be sure to call it a "Boston" meet-up. You'll easily get 5-10 people to talk about how it's really not that bad and has all the amenities of the city but with more parking. It'll be a hoot.
posted by Civil_Disobedient at 4:32 AM on January 22, 2007

If there was a meetup planned, and no one showed, would it still be a meetup?

Civil_Disobedient: "That's a Cambridge meet-up, not a Boston meet-up."

Sigh, there's one in every crowd.

posted by Plutor at 5:14 AM on January 22, 2007

A date, huh? Next time, I want flowers.

Is this the thread where we express jealousy of Kattullus for his hot babe or the one where we make fun of his small meetup? Either way, I'm in.

Does this count as an occasion for untoward awkwardness?
Or am I confused?
posted by carsonb at 6:32 AM on January 22, 2007

The latter.
posted by and hosted from Uranus at 6:37 AM on January 22, 2007

No, wait. Which comes first? The former.

Thus proving that there actually IS stuff to do in Boston on a Saturday night. Assuming everyone was out doing said stuff.

I can't believe you're exposing that innocent humanoid larvae to MetaFilter.

I would call whatever agency amounts for child protective services in your region - but I'm evil so I won't, and I look forward to whatever kind of super powered mutant freak they may grow up to be.
posted by loquacious at 1:15 PM on January 22, 2007

The little larvae you speak of will have no interest in MetaFilter until every FPP is about choo-choo trains or helicopters, so there is no need to involve DSS.
