Selflinking to youtube is ok? January 29, 2007 8:17 PM   Subscribe

Would a youtube video created by myself and another member be appropriate for Projects? The FAQ seems to discourage posting something like that...On the other hand we have put a ton of effort & time into it and think it would be enjoyed by the community.

Do you get hurt/ set on fire in said video? This is key to my answer.

Sounds like a way to get yourself another thread in MetaTalk, to me. If that's your intent, then post away. Otherwise, I would say no.

Projects? Should be OK.

Or submit and AskMe with the question "Why aren't we superstars yet?"

I don't recall ever seeing a MeTa callout for a "bad" Projects post...

I don't see anything on the Projects about page that discourages you from posting a video project you've put significant time and effort into. Seems to pretty clearly give that the ok, actually.

Seriously, I just posted a link to my flickr photoset from a road trip in projects, and it was deemed okay - I think if you've done something cool, you're not only allowed to post it there, you're damn well obligated to!

Ya, but jonson gets away with everything..

In MetaTalk threads, mathowie has tried to emphasize the web based nature of projects. It has sounded a bit too strict to me, but I've no idea how the actual moderation has gone..

Go for it, fidgets.

I'm pretty sure projects are still screened by matt and Jess, so if they don't like it, they won't accept it. So post away.

Sounds fine to me.
