Looking for a MeFi thread about a guy who created his own 3D terrain program from the ground-up. [more inside]

Used C++ (I think) on what I vaguely recall was VisualStudio.NET (I hope I'm wrong) and discussed the step-by-step learning and refining process he used to decrease processor load and increase detail. Included source-code, complete with documentation.

I had this and several other projects I used as learning experiences on an old flash drive that recently lost a battle with asphalt and a truck tire. The majority of the projects I eventually grew beyond in programming skill, but this one I want to get back and start tinkering.

If you click on that nice grey bar on the big blue page and type "terrain", that's the first thing you find. I have a hard time believing that you are capable of posting to MetaTalk but not of using the search feature.

Despite all this evidence to the contrary.

No, really, you don't have to add snark when you're pointing out a flaw or error in logic. Really.

Yeah, laugh all you want, but I'm used to a MeFi with searches that don't work - one where you get "JRUN Error" as your most common result.

Cortex nailed it.
& thanks bob, that is the one.
