Jessie's back in town... we'll always cut fresh flowers for you, and Jessie, we'll always make the wine cold for you.

Jessie is a friend, yeah I know, she's been a good friend of mine, but lately somethin's changed, it ain't hard to define.

Yea, _sirmissalot_, where can I find a woman like that?

Were gonna break out the hats and hooters
When jessamyn comes home
Were gonna rev up the motor scooters
When jessamyn comes home to stay
Were gonna park in the street
Sleep on the beach and make it
Throw down the jam till the girls say when
Lay down the law and break it
When jessamyn comes home

No, my apostrophe button isn't broken. I'm just a lazy cut-and-paster

Mathowie sighs holding Jessamyn’s black tooth
She left to visit Australia, ain't it the cold truth
And there hasn't been a tally since Sally left the alley
Since Jessamyn left for Australia things have got pretty thin
It's tight on this fence since them noobs are musclin' in
Cortex cries 'cause Jessamyn’s in a bundle
She goes running nightly, lightly through the jungle
And them tin cans are explodin' out in the ninety-degree heat
Mathowie somehow lost his baby down on Australia Street
It's sad but it sure is true
Mathowie shrugs his shoulders, sits back and sighs
OOh, what can I do, ooh, what can I do?
OOh, what can I do, ooh what can I do?

Mathowie lies back bent on a trash can,
Flashing lights cut the night, dude in the white says he's the man
Well you better learn to move fast when you're young or you're not long around
Mathowie somehow lost his Jessamyn down in the Australia ground
So get right, get tight, get down
Well who's that down at the end of the alley?
She's been gone so long

Jessamyn’s back in town, here she comes now
Jessamyn’s back in town
Jessamyn’s back in town, here she comes now
Jessamyn’s back in town
Jessamyn’s back in town, here she comes now
Jessamyn’s back in town

Now Mathowie knows his Jessamyn’s been untrue
And that she left him for a Australia dude
But she's so soft, she's so blue
When he looks into her eyes
He just sits back and sighs
Ooh, what can I do, ooh, what can I do?

Hi -- I've been back for a few weeks. But, I got back and there was the big crash followed by the emergency server migration. We were planning to try something out very beginning of April but it got pushed back because of all that noise. I think we're still planning something; thanks for all your patience.

I've never met the woman; I wouldn't know what she looked like if she threw a slice of cake at me; I'll probably never have the pleasure of knowing her in person; yet I'm truly comforted that she has returned from wherever she's been.

Boy, this thread is nothing like what I expected to see when I clicked on it. Good job Mefi! You pleasantly surprise me all the time.

Whew it seemed like there was a sudden intake of puckered breath there for a second or two

Incidentally, the comments meshed nicely with the Chuck Berry album on, kind of gave me vertigo.

Ask MeFi Experimentation

Is that like the time that AskMe was at a wrap party with all of his theater geek friends and had a little too much to drink and woke up sans underwear in the same bed as Metafilter Music, and now neither of them want to talk about it and are just uncomfortable around each other?
posted by Rhomboid at 3:51 PM on April 6, 2007

Yes. I had to hold AskMe's head as it yakked off the balcony.
Kept muttering something about "I look fat in these bike pants, don't I?" over and over and over.
MeFiMusic, in some smelly old "Glass Spider" tour shirt was popping DRM-amine and Jager and waiting for AskMe to fall asleep.

I'd say we're ready to go back to 1 post per week. I wanted to toy with the idea of 1 post per day as a new limit for 1 month total, just to see what arises from the chaos of it all, and if we could bear it with a few new tools to deal with whatever deluge it might cause. But I think it'd be safe to go to 1 per week and tell people to shut up if they post to metatalk "There are too many questions these days, do something about it!"

Before we can make any change, jessamyn, cortex, and I have to all engage our master keys in the Ask MeFi control room at the same time, so it might take a while to pin us all down and get us in the same place. There are complicated procedures for everything.

If you were hardcore, you'd do one post an hour.
posted by Brandon Blatcher at 7:32 PM on April 6, 2007

Ok, it's done, you can ask 1 question a week again, for at least until the end of April, when we'll go back and see if it was deemed a success or not.

We'll be trying new features out on the front page, archive page, and search as well, to help people wade through what might become an unmanageable page.

Y'all, good sirs and madam, are more generous administrators than I would be. One post per day would have been interesting, and likely been worth it just to have something to point at to justify normal policy (which works no matter which way one-post-per-day would go).

I would have jacked up the limit to one per month, just to increase the "do I want this to be my one post for the $timePeriod" factor, which I belive to be wonderful.

I just watched Wargames for the first time in many years, and I've got to say, it holds up. My crush on Ally Sheedy is completely vindicated.

It turns out the two guys in the control room at the beginning of the movie are a very young Michael Madsen, and that guy who played the chief of staff on the West Wing.

Anyway, if you haven't seen it in a while, Joshua misses you and you should rent it.

My first girlfriend in drama school was Ms. Sheedy.
