OK. Getting back to the Mefi New York Get Together open question... ...
Paris, I really really want to have an NYC get-together, but shit does not look good right now before, say, mid-January. I have term papers and finals at school, a client to move into new offices, a need to visit my family for the first time in more than 18 months, a trip to Florida to visit an uncle, a book club, and regular day-to-day work. But set a time and I'll try to be there.

I think there should be a linked get-together in Paris and Paramus.

Errr...why did I post in the old thread? I meant to post here.
Anyways, there's lots of activity going on in the old thread, so go there instead.

cross posted:
why only one get-together? what about a monthly or weekly mefi happy hour, with a rotating schedule of venues (smoking, non-smoking, live music, ivy league club environment, bar, coffeeshop, abandoned subway tunnel, comic book shop, church youth group environment, strip club, central booking...) and perhaps a rotating schedule of neighborhood locations (park slope, east village, long island city, lower east side, hoboken, poughkeepsie, bridgeport, someplace in the poconos...).
but until i finish working on my mefipartycircuit.com website, i think, paris, that you having seized the initiative enough to begin this thread should keep on seizing the initiative: just pick a location, pick a date, pick a time, ask matt to mention it in the sideblog...and that will be the first mefi nyc party.
those that can come will come; those that can't come will have extra incentive to get busy planning the next get-together.

at the lord & taylors in the fashion center?
The Fashion Center, time warp it be, is very dear to me, but not the place.
There are two things going on here: the idea of a Brooklyn gathering, and then the idea of a monthly one. I like both, I'm even interested in working on both (as an ego trip: my taste in place being validated). And, in both cases, the idea of a January postponement is a good one. I'll check the calendar. I'll also pray for snow, which always puts people in a good mood.
